Invisalign: A 6-Step Process to Realign Your Smile

Most people have heard about Invisalign aligners, but not everyone understands the Invisalign process and what it entails to succeed. At Rejuvenate Dentistry, Dr. Huy Quach and our team want you to be fully informed about this treatment before proceeding.

To that end, your Richmond, Texas, dentist describes six steps to realigning your smile with Invisalign here:

Step #1 Schedule a Consultation

Dr. Huy will schedule a consultation so we can evaluate your smile. At this time, we’ll take X-rays and digital scans of your teeth, gums, and jaw to ascertain the problems that need to be fixed. Dr. Huy will explain how Invisalign works, what to expect, and what’s expected of you to succeed, so you can decide if Invisalign is right for you.

Step #2 Pre-Invisalign Treatment

If, during your consultation, we uncover problems with your teeth such as decay, infection, tooth damage, or gum disease, Dr. Huy will address these issues before beginning your Invisalign procedure.

Step #3 Plan Your Procedure

Invisalign procedures are carefully planned in advance to achieve your unique smile goals. This is done using 3D Invisalign imaging technology, which shows how your teeth will move and how they will appear by the end of your treatment. Predictable outcomes are one of the many benefits of Invisalign.

Step #4 Create Custom Aligners

Using 3D scanning and designing technology, Dr. Huy will have a series of aligners custom-made for your teeth. These aligners will take the place of brackets and wires to straighten your grin. Dr. Huy will go over aligner care and use before you start your procedure.

Step #5 Aligner Use & Care/Oral Hygiene

The aligners are meant to be worn full-time, 22 hours a day. You’ll remove them mainly to eat and brush your teeth. You’ll switch to new aligners every two weeks, per the guidelines of your treatment. Each aligner set brings you one step closer to achieving the goals established for your procedure.

Keep your aligners clean by rinsing them every time they’re removed and brushing at least once daily using Invisalign solution or clear, liquid soap. Store them safely when not in use.

Your teeth should be brushed and flossed after every meal to remove plaque and bacteria regularly. This minimizes your risk of decay or other issues during treatment. We’ll also schedule routine cleanings during your procedure.

Step #6 Dental Appointments/Finalizing Treatment

We’ll schedule appointments every 3 months to assess your progress and adjust any aspects of your treatment, if needed. If all is going according to plan, you’ll continue with your procedure until your smile goals are achieved.

Once your treatment is complete, we’ll give you a final retainer to wear, mostly at night, to ensure your smile stays in alignment long-term. This way you can enjoy the beautiful results of Invisalign for life!
